At this time of year especially ( article written Feb 08) Scotland can be a grey and depressing place! The Glasgow skies can be a bit dour to say the least and the weather is cold enough to worry brass monkeys! So many os start thinking about Holidays, Glasgow to Spain is just a quick short haul flight and just thinking about escaping the Glasgow climate for some almost guaranteed sunshine seems to good to be true.

Spain holidays offer incredible variety for tourists, snow-covered mountains for skiing enthusiasts, lush green valleys for those interested in walking or touring holidays, and of course superb golden beaches with cheap bars and restaaurants never to far away. However it is not just the landscape and

climate of Spain that interests visitors from Scotland – the culture, art, and even language vary widely throughout this country. Tourists from Glasgow and the rest of the UK have been having package holidays in Spain since the 1950’s and 60’s and we are still flying to Spain in droves every year. Why? because Spain offers a year round reliable climate, great beaches, many high standard attractions with plenty to see and do, and wide variety of hotel, villa and self-catering apartments to suit every budget.

Most visitors from Glasgow prefer the Spanish resorts located on the Mediterranean coast, such as the Costa Brava, Costa Blanca, Costa Dorada, Costa Almeria and Costa del Sol. These areas are well used to taking care of visitors from the Uk and offer tons of variety with hundreds of resorts to suit all tastes. Additionly Majorca and Minorca are longstanding favourites and if you really love the sun and want simmering hot weather even in the depths of winter, then the Canary Islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are all good bets.

The best part about holidays from Glasgow to Spain nowadays is that direct flights are available every day from Glasgow airport ( unless you are as old as me you wont remember but back in the “olden days” we used to have to connect via flights to Spain at heathrow or gatwick!) so you can literally be freezing in the Glasgow rain in the morning, then sunning yourself on the beaches of Spain in the afternoon, pina colada in hand!
