The city of culture and European design is Scotland’s largest city situated on the north bank of the Clyde Glasgow is a vastly changing city which was once known for poverty and violence, but today it is a great place to visit with many art galleries such as the Gallery of Modern Art which houses a collection of contemporary Scottish art and the McClellan Galleries which displays some of the finest Scottish works of art. Glasgow is an old city with some wonderful architectural buildings dating back to the 16th century to explore throughout the city centre.

Glasgow has a real cosmopolitan feel to it with its fantastic nightlife with themed bars, theatres and shows; live music is a big thing in Glasgow with new talent playing in many of the pubs, if that doesn’t take your fancy there are many nightclubs that are open till the small hours of the morning. Bistro and café’s to sit and watch the world go by and so many restaurants to choose from you are spoilt for choice, there is of course the usual fast food restaurants and plenty fish and chip shops.

Shopping in Glasgow is everything you would expect from a city and more, from designer shops to large department stores and exclusive shops. There are also norm shops for the budget shoppers.

The centre of Glasgow is where most of the action happens, aside from the many art galleries you will also find cinemas and theatres to take in shows and the Glasgow Film Theatre located on Rose St shows some of Scotland’s art films and classic movies. There are many hotels located in the centre of Glasgow and some cheap hostels for the backpackers. Hostels are often a great experience as you get to meet many new travellers from around the globe.

The main point for transportation can be found in the city centre, with Glasgow central and Glasgow Queen street train station.
Buchanan bus stations is located just a short distance from the main shopping area, this is where the majority of buses to other parts of the Scotland depart from and Glasgow has two Airports, Glasgow International Airport is located eight miles west of the City centre and Glasgow Prestwick Airport is thirty miles south of the city centre, there is also an underground service which operates between 15 stations.

If you don’t want to miss any of the main attractions, you should try the City Tour
Which lasts around 80 minutes from an open –air top bus that takes you to some of the major art galleries, museums, parks and great architectural buildings. Tours are available in the summer months until October from 9.30am – 4.30pm, tickets can be purchased on the bus, the cost is around £19.50 for a family of four.

For some great scenery and a fun day out try the Cruise Loch Lomond Tour. The tour includes a cruise along the beautiful Loch Lomond; your individual requirements can be met so that you have a relaxing and entertaining day out.
