Why are so many people looking for accommodation in Chaminox?

Well, Chamonix and the neighbouring region have been a mecca for the winter sports, climbing and mountaineering fraternity for many years. Chamonix ( actually Chamonix-Mont-Blanc now since name change some years ago) is a town in eastern France, in the Haute-Savoie region, at the foot of Mont Blanc - hence the popularity with the skiing and snowboarding crowds. Just one hour from Geneva by road. It also has a spectacular cable car ride up to the Aiguille du Midi. Chamonix is so famous for its winter sports it actually features as a snow track on Sony’s Gran Turismo 4! In past years Chamonix was once labelled the Ibiza of the ski slopes due to its popularity with young brits, however the resort has calmed down a lot now and is considered slightly upmarket - although wild times can still be had with many a wild apres ski party if thats what you are looking for!

Whether you’re a snow rider, a Nordic skier, a keen snow-shoer, hiker or you simply love beautiful and fresh winter alpine landscapes - Caminox has a lot to offer. Its not all about the winter either, in the summer months Chamonix is a mecca for alpine mountaineers, drawn to the area by challenges like the north face of the Dru, the Frendo Spur on the Aiguille du Midi, traversing the Alps on the legendary GR 5 footpath or more accessible challenges like climbing Mont Blanc (there are a number of possible routes some of which are suitable for beginners).

The vast majority of people coming to Chamonix arrive at Geneva airport then take a short transfer. It is especially popular with Brits and Northern Europeans ( mainly Scandinavians and Germans).

• Moving more upmarket we have the Hotel Les Balcons Du Savoy Chamonix - Every room has a south-facing balconies giving you direct views of the Mont Blanc mountain and guests are able to ski in and out from the property! All apartments have Telephone, Satellite TV, En-suite, Lounge and Kitchen with integral Dishwasher, Refrigerator, Microwave Oven and Grill. This is a 4 star property and the facilities reflect that, including Solarium,
  Steam Room, Gym, Massage area, Indoor Swimming Pool and Games Room with Billiards, Tables Tennis, Video Games and of course a bar. This luxury does not come cheap and as you would expect the rates are more expensive than our first choices, however still reasonable IMHO. prices start at EUR 151.
