Theme parks in Paris France

France has always been popular as a tourist destination for its food, wine, history and charm. However nowadays many vistors want to “go large” and experience then fun and thrills of theme parks.
The main theme parks in France are:
- Disneyland Resort Paris - as this is the biggest and most famous resort in France, it needs very little introduction! It is easy to get there whether you are coming by car, plane, train or public transport. gives an authentic Disney experience and for all those who have been to Florida just think of it as a “mini disneyworld”
- Futuroscope - a lesser known theme park but a fantastic day out for kids and adults alike. The Parc du Futuroscope main entrance is located just 2 minutes from Exit 28 on the A10 motorway (Paris-Bordeaux). Many vistors enjoy this park better than disneyworld as theyfeel it is more “fun” themed rather than just “Disney” themed! My favourite (and the kids) was the Mission Éclabousse - An all family attraction in which you navigate your way around a fantasy island on boats armed with water cannons (4 to a boat), moving among the mist sprays, geysers and moving water jets. The aim is to shoot the targets on the water’s surface, and all the other boats, without getting shot yourselves - think dodgems with cannons on the water. Warning there are sneaky snipers lurking around the water’s edge! We have never laughed so much and all the other families seemed to enjoy it just as much! There are tons of other great rides and attractions there, such as Deep Sea 3D, Mystery of the Nile,Dances with Robots, Futuroscope digital city, Cyber avenue, Race for Atlantis and much more…
- Parc Asterix - opened in 1989, this park is just 35 km (20 miles) north of Paris. bases on the adventures of Asterix the Guall. The park opens only from April to October, its not a year round atraction like Disney. It is famous for its many roller coaster rides which are themed around historic cultures like the Romans and the ancient Greeks. The Tonnerre de Zeusis, for example, is the top-rated roller coaster in Europe. there is also a large, twisting water slide with dinghies called the Oxygénarium. A haunted mansion filled with scary special effects called the Transdémonium and a terrifying a 900m bobsled, that hits speeds of 50mph.
- Puy du Fou - the second most popular attraction in France after Euro Disney of course. created in 1977 on the ruins of a castle. The attractions are all variations on the same theme i.e. history, in particular great battles in history. Think of it as a re-enactment on steriods! There are 5 main attractions; The Battle of the Keep, The Vikings, Gladiators, The Phantom Birds Dance and Richeulieu’s Musketeers. its a real action packed day as most of the shows last around 40-60 minutes and there are many smaller attractions to grab your interest also. The main evening event is the The Cinescene, boasting the largest stage in the world, with thousands of actors, hundreds of horses and tons of fireworks and big bangs. It feels like you have wondered onto the set of Ben Hur at times!
All the resorts either provide their own accommodation or have links and deals with hotels and Bed &breakfasts in the area. Check out accomodation France for more information
